Introduction: A Prophecy for Our Time
In the quiet fields of Fátima, Portugal, in the year of Our Lord 1917, the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children—Lucia dos Santos, and her cousins Francisco and Jacinta Marto. Her message was simple, but immense: Prayer. Penance. Reparation. The Rosary.
She warned that if mankind did not repent, great calamities would follow—war, the spread of atheistic communism, persecution of the Church, and even the annihilation of entire nations. Over a century later, we see her words echo in the history of the 20th and 21st centuries. In 2025, they feel more fulfilled—and more urgent—than ever.
The Three Secrets: What Heaven Revealed and What Remains
Our Lady entrusted the children with three “secrets.” The First was a vision of Hell. The Second foretold the end of World War I, the beginning of a worse war if men did not repent, and the rise of Russia’s errors.
The Third Secret, long concealed, was only partially revealed by the Vatican in 2000. The official vision described a “bishop in white” walking through a devastated city before being martyred alongside other clergy and lay faithful. Yet, this account was strikingly devoid of words from Our Lady—words that Sister Lucia indicated were part of the full secret.
According to Cardinal Ciappi, papal theologian to Pius XII and others, the hidden part revealed that:
“The great apostasy in the Church will begin at the top.”
This chilling warning aligns with what Sister Lucia called the “diabolical disorientation” of the Church in her later writings.
Apostasy Within: The Church in the Shadow of Modernism
Since the Second Vatican Council, the Church has endured a profound internal crisis:
- Liturgical revolution, with reverence abandoned.
- Doctrinal confusion, often from the very top.
- Moral collapse, including the breakdown of marriage and family life.
- Suppression of Tradition, and hostility to those who hold to it.
Sister Lucia warned in 1957:
“Do not wait for the call to come from Rome. It is now time for each person to begin reforming himself.”
Her prophecy has become a sorrowful reality. Apostasy has not come primarily from the world—it has entered the sanctuary.
Russia’s Errors: Not Just Communism
When Our Lady said that “Russia will spread her errors throughout the world,” she spoke prophetically of a revolution far deeper than politics. These “errors” included:
- Atheism and militant secularism
- Materialism
- Class warfare and rebellion against authority
- Destruction of the family and natural law
Though the Soviet Union collapsed, its ideology metastasized. Today, these errors rule in the West under new banners: gender theory, abortion rights, transhumanism, and neo-Marxist cultural revolutions.
Instruments of Satan’s Work: Institutions and Ideologies
Our Lady warned that Satan would wage a final, decisive battle. Sister Lucia said that battle would be over the family, and would not spare the clergy. The devil, she wrote, was especially targeting priests and consecrated souls, knowing that if he could bring them down, he could scatter the flock.
The primary instruments Satan has used to advance this revolution include:
✦ Communism and Marxism
- Spread atheism, class hatred, and destroyed traditional social order.
✦ Freemasonry
- Long condemned by the Church for its naturalism, anti-clericalism, and work to undermine Catholic monarchies and doctrine.
✦ Modernism
- The “synthesis of all heresies,” as Pope St. Pius X warned, promoting relativism and doctrinal ambiguity.
✦ The Media and Entertainment Industry
- A vast machine of impurity, blasphemy, and spiritual corruption.
✦ Globalist and International Organizations
- Bodies like the UN, IMF, and World Bank, which push anti-life, anti-family, and anti-Christian agendas—especially in the developing world.
The Role of Modern Finance: Mammon Reigns
Though not mentioned explicitly at Fátima, the Church has long recognized the moral dangers of unrestrained finance, especially through:
- Usury, condemned by popes for centuries.
- Global banks and financial elites, many of which now actively promote:
- Abortion and contraception
- Gender ideology
- Secularism and population control
Nations and peoples are enslaved by debt, and spiritual poverty grows under the pretense of material wealth. Catholics who resist the modern moral order may soon find themselves financially excluded—an eerie echo of Apocalypse 13:17.
The Third Secret Today: Are We Living It?
The Vatican’s released version of the Third Secret described a city in ruins, a Pope martyred, and a Church in suffering. In our day:
- We see Churches closed, not just by force, but by indifference.
- We see bishops opposed to bishops, and faithful persecuted within their own parishes.
- We see the Vicar of Christ isolated, often contradicted by those under him or by his own ambiguity.
- We witness a culture that has chosen Barabbas, and where Christ is crucified anew in His Mystical Body.
Has the Third Secret been fully fulfilled? Perhaps not. But the storm clouds are gathering.
What Must We Do?
Our Lady did not leave us without hope. Her Immaculate Heart is our refuge and the way that leads to God. The solution is spiritual, not political—though it will have social consequences.
We must return to:
- Daily Rosary: the “weapon for our times.”
- First Saturday Devotion: to make reparation for sins.
- Personal conversion: through confession, penance, and detachment.
- Fidelity to Sacred Tradition: the unchanging deposit of faith.
Above all, we must consecrate ourselves, our families, and our parishes to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
Final Words: In the End, Her Heart Will Triumph
The forces now arrayed against the Church—ideological, institutional, financial, even ecclesiastical—are powerful. But they are not final.
“In the end, My Immaculate Heart will triumph.”
– Our Lady of Fátima, July 13, 1917
Let us not be deceived by diabolical disorientation. Let us not wait for Rome to act. Let us begin, today, to restore all things in Christ—through Mary, as Heaven commands.
